BACKGROUND:
Nevada’s Extended Young Adult Support Services Program (EYASSP) authorized by NRS 432B.591, allowed youth who were in foster care on their 18th birthday to remain in care and receive support services, such as housing and case management until age 21.
Effective July 1, 2025, Nevada Division of Child & Family Services issued a subaward for EYASSP, utilizing funding from Title IV-E and the matching funds from Fund for Resilient Nevada. As such, the total award of $8,131,503 of which $4,910,832 have been allocated for the monthly foster payments, and $3,220,671 for salaries and benefits of 29 positions. This position funding will continue to pay for the following existing positions (1) Family Services Supervisor (10171569), (1) Social Worker (10155596), (1) Eligibility Specialist (10021433), (9) Family Services Specialist II (10015747, 10015753, 10155579, 10171570, 10171571, 10171572, 10171573, 10171574, 10171575), seven of these positions had been established from the FY25 Supplemental process in preparation of this program. The remainder of the position funding would create up to seventeen (17) additional limited-permanent grant funded positions (1) Family Services Manager (K03), (1) Family Services Supervisor (C30), (14) Family Services Specialist II (C28), (1) Eligibility Specialist (C24) to support the young adults participating under the EYASSP and to meet the requirement EYASSP has outlined in their Policy 0807 EYASSP to include: Eligibility and Enrollment, Case Management Services, and Court Oversight.
Staff requests that the Board approve the creation of up to 17 positions provided available grant funding and accept any funds awarded.
