BACKGROUND:
This Competitive Bidding Exception is for the purchase of personal protective ensembles for the Fire Department with L.N. Curtis & Sons (NBE).
A Fiscal Directive No. 6, Competitive Bidding Exception, was approved because Clark County Fire Department has utilized Globe Firefighter Suits and Protective Clothing for over 20 years and are currently being used by over 700 career and over 150 volunteer firefighters. The suits have Parallon liner that lightens the weight of the garment while increases the moisture-wicking ability which is imperative in a hot, dry climate such as Las Vegas.
L.N. Curtis & Sons is the sole authorized distributor of Globe turnouts for the State of Nevada.
The following are the pertinent provisions of this approval:
• The term of the approval is from date of award through June 30, 2025 and includes the option to renew for 4, one-year periods.
• Clark County is not under exclusive contract with L.N. Curtis & Sons and therefore, can cease purchasing product at any time.
The recommendation of award is in accordance with NRS 332.115.1(a), the competitive bidding process is not required as the item to be purchased is contracted from a sole source; (d), the competitive bidding process is not required as the equipment which, by reason of the training of the personnel or of an inventory of replacement parts maintained by the local government is compatible with existing equipment.
L.N. Curtis & Sons currently holds a Clark County Business License.
