BACKGROUND:

Rio Virgin Telephone Company has submitted an application for a telecommunication system franchise agreement with the County (replaces existing agreement granted on June 2, 2009) to be able to construct, operate and maintain a telecommunication system within the town of Bunkerville, Nevada. Pursuant to NRS 709.070, this application was accepted by the Board on April 16, 2024.

In accordance with NRS 709.070, public notice has been published in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks and posted in three public locations in the unincorporated towns affected at least ten days before the public hearing. The Board is requested to hold a public hearing on May 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to receive objections to consider awarding a telecommunications franchise to provide telecommunication services in certain unincorporated areas of Clark County.

Following the public hearing, the Board is requested to direct staff to finalize the terms and provisions of a telecommunications utility system franchise agreement with Rio Virgin Telephone Company and bring back to the Board for consideration and approval.
