BACKGROUND:

Pursuant to NRS 258.010, on March 19, 2013, the Board of County Commissioners adopted an Ordinance which abolished the Office of the Constable for the Las Vegas Township. The abolition of the Office became effective at 11:59pm on January 4, 2015.

In lieu of an elected constable, on October 7, 2014, the Board appointed the Clark County Sheriff to be the Ex Officio Constable and also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding setting forth the conditions and obligations of the County and the Sheriff with regard to administration and operation of the Office.

To ensure the efficient provision of Ex Officio Constable services to the public, County staff and the Office of the Sheriff have determined that a new Memorandum of Understanding is necessary. Approval of this Memorandum of Understanding will repeal and replace the Memorandum of Understanding adopted in 2014.
