BACKGROUND:
The complaint alleges that two minor children sustained injuries and subsequently did not receive proper treatment allegedly as a result of the negligence of the Department of Family Services in 2013. Through negotiations during a court ordered mandatory settlement conference, the County reached a tentative settlement of $200,000 subject to Board of County Commission approval. Approval of the settlement will resolve the case and allow the County to avoid any further litigation costs and expenses. The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
