BACKGROUND:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the FY25 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grant Program, which provides funding to local fire departments to support community-based fire prevention and life safety initiatives.

The Clark County Fire Department submitted a grant application requesting funding for the Sprinkler Awareness Project under the Fire Prevention and Safety activity. The proposed project includes:

(1) Acquisition of a Fire Safety Simulator Trailer System;
(2) Funding for a contractual Public Education Coordinator for a one-year period; and
(3) Purchase of education materials and equipment to support program implementation.

Due to the limited time between the grant announcement and the application deadline, staff submitted the application to FEMA on June 22, 2026, prior to obtaining Board approval, to preserve the County's eligibility for funding.

Staff recommends that the Board ratify the submission of the attached grant application.
