BACKGROUND:

Commercial Center sits at 953 East Sahara Ave just west of Maryland Pkwy.  The 40 +/- acre shopping center is roughly 60 years old with infrastructure that has surpassed its useful life.  Currently, there are attempts to reenergize Commercial Center with new restaurants and shops, but aging infrastructure is creating barriers for new investment.

On August 16, 2023 the Redevelopment Agency Board approved a new incentive program that provides financial assistance to property owners and businesses within Commercial Center for the installation of grease traps/inceptors needed for the operation of restaurant and bar type establishments.  As approved the total funding for the grant program was limited to $150,000 with per grant/property funding limited to $25,000.  This item increases the total available program budget to $500,000 and increases the per grant/property funding to $90,000.    Grants will be limited to one grant per property owner.
