BACKGROUND:

Sometime prior to 1970, the United States Air Force (USAF) constructed and utilized a ±2,135 square foot building, known as "Building 12" or the "GATR" building (Building) located on Assessor's Parcel Number 128-10-000-002 which land is owned by the United States Forest Service (USFS).  In November 1970, the USAF ceased use of the Building and conveyed the Building to Clark County by a quitclaim deed as accepted by the Board of County Commissioners.  At some point, USAF began using the Building again as a classified site with the land being leased to the County by USFS.

To eliminate leasing land for a building that the County does not use, the District Attorney has recommended the Building be reonveyed back to USAF.  The USAF has approved to accept the Building.

This item was presented to the County's Long Range Planning Committee on November 22, 2019 and August 23, 2023.
