BACKGROUND:
The Conservation District of Southern Nevada (CDSN) was formed in 1974. CDSN is a governmental subdivision of the State and is governed by a seven-member board of volunteer supervisors: five elected at large, one representing Clark County, and one representing the incorporated cities (NRS 548.283).
The mission of the CDSN is to provide leadership in identifying and meeting the resource conservation needs of the citizens of Clark County by providing technical services, education, information, planning assistance, and coordination of services. CDSN applies for grants, obtains funding, and administers conservation and sustainability programs that augment County programs and services. Clark County supports CDSN by providing an appointed representative and through direct funding of appropriate projects.
Staff recommends the Board approve the appointment of Rebecca Choi as the Clark County representative, and Dawn Leaper as the alternate Clark County representative, to the Conservation District of Southern Nevada Board of Supervisors.
