BACKGROUND:
The Regional Flood Control District (RFCD) has approved and programmed funds for flood control improvements for the Airport Channel and Peaking Basin. The project is in Las Vegas, Nevada at the northwest corner of Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road. The facility is identified as Tropicana Wash - Harry Reid Airport Peaking Basin, and TRMC 0013, 0014, 0031, 0033 and TRSW 0080 on RFCD's 2023 Master Plan Update (MPU) for the Las Vegas Valley. The peaking basin will serve to mitigate peak flood flows to the existing downstream MPU facilities. This project consists of a peaking basin, inflow and outlet facilities, spillway, protective fencing, and graded maintenance roads.
The interlocal contract will provide funds in Year 1 of RFCD's Ten-Year Construction Program for construction of the Airport Channel and Peaking Basin project. The term of the contract is effective until August 31, 2030, unless time extensions are granted.
RFCD approved the interlocal contract at its meeting on June 11, 2026.
The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the interlocal contract as to form.
