BACKGROUND:
On June 20, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved the award of RFQ No. 606490-22 for Burial and Cremation Service to IHP LLC dba McDermott's Funeral & Cremation Service (NBE).
This Contract is to provide burial and cremation services.
The following are the pertinent provisions of the Contract:
• The term of the Contract was from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 and included the option to renew for 4, one-year periods and included a 3-month extension.
• Included the County’s option to terminate for cause, convenience or default and suspend the Contract with advanced written notice.
On August 7, 2025, Clark County Department of Social Services was notified by the Executive Director of the Nevada Funeral Board that the Board had voted to revoke the license of McDermott’s Funeral & Cremation Service for a period of five years.
On August 13, 2025, a Cause and Corrective Action Notice with suspension was issued regarding the revocation of license to operate as a funeral and cremation provider.
On September 4, 2025, the Purchasing and Contracts Division issued a Notice of Intent to Terminate Contract for Cause and Notice of Meeting to Consider Administrative Action, by certified letter giving the minimum 21 working days’ notice. This letter stipulated that the Contract would be terminated effective October 21, 2025, subject to the Board's approval. Staff recommends that the Board terminate the Contract with IHP LLC dba McDermott's Funeral & Cremation Service.
This action is in accordance with Page 4, Section IX, Suspension and Termination.
