BACKGROUND:

On March 19, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) Interlocal Agreement No. C2400084 for a subgrant award to the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner (CCOCME) in the amount of $77,856.00 to support standardized case-level data collection and develop reports on fatal opioid overdoses in Clark County. The subgrant also funds Data Collection Specialist and travel for case and record reviews with local and state agencies.

Approval of Amendment No. 1 will provide CCOCME with additional funds to continue performing additional toxicology testing on suspected opioid involved deaths and assist with streamlining software and reporting processes that aid in real time analysis and data collection between CCOCME and SNHD. The term of the contract is from September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024, and allows the County to terminate the contract with advanced written notice.

Staff recommends that the Board ratify and approve this subgrant from SNHD, and accept the awarded funds on behalf of CCOCME.
