DISCUSSION: Following introduction of the item, Commissioner Naft presented a brief slideshow of the five-acre park, and spoke of the many amenities that would be offered; advised of a contest among schools to name the park; and presented a proclamation to Hailey Anderson, the winner of the contest.

BACKGROUND: 

Clark County is currently in the construction phase for the park located at Buffalo and Russell.  The initial 6 acre phase began in October of 2020 and is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2021.

Commissioner Naft coordinated a naming contest with students of Sawyer Middle School and Durango High School to name the 36-acre nature themed Clark County Park site located at Buffalo and Russell.  A total of 4 potential names were submitted with the Commissioner’s office identifying a preference of Echo Trail Park.

The name was presented to the Long-Range Planning Committee on March 25, 2021 and approval was obtained.

The Board is being asked to formally name the Clark County Park located at Buffalo and Russell as Echo Trail Park.

Staff recommends approval of this request.
