BACKGROUND:
At the April 16, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners ("Board") created the eight-member (8) Rural Alliance Advisory Committee (RAAC). This Committee will assist the Board in an advisory capacity with exploring County-driven issues intended to preserve the rural lifestyle of designated areas located in unincorporated Clark County.
The RAAC will hold regular, public meetings throughout the year. Membership will be comprised of seven (7) members representing each commission district, with individuals that reside within a residential neighborhood in Clark County with densities of two (2) dwelling units per acre or less, areas designated with a rural neighborhood preservation overlay, or other spaces that are rural in nature. One (1) member will represent the Northwest Area Residents Association (NARA). Members will serve without compensation for a two-year term beginning June 18, 2024.
An open recruitment effort began Monday, April 22, 2024 through Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Staff received applications from Carl Anderson, Victoria Bremner, Michael Dang, Alex Kleytman, Tommy LoPresti, Susan Philipp, Gary Pitts, Christian Salmon, James "Brian" Scroggins, Brigitte Solvie, Kristen Stout and Abran Vigil.
The County Commission is asked to appoint eight (8) qualified individuals to the RAAC for a two-year (2-year) term ending June 18, 2026.
