BACKGROUND:
The City of Hope is a leading cancer research and treatment organization dedicated to advancing innovative approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer and other serious diseases. The City of Hope brings together world-class research, clinical care, and education with the goal of transforming scientific discoveries into improved treatments and better outcomes for patients and their families. Moreover, the City of Hope has a long-standing commitment to serving patients affected by cancer and other life-threatening diseases while advancing research that has the potential to benefit communities locally, nationally, and around the world. Finally, the City of Hope is recognized for its contributions to cancer research, including the development and advancement of innovative therapies and approaches to patient care.
At the August 18, 2026, Clark County Board of County Commissioners (County Commission) meeting, Commissioner Kirkpatrick provided information regarding the City of Hope's application to the State of Nevada. The County Commission expressed support for the City of Hope and directed staff to prepare a resolution for consideration by the County Commission and inclusion in the City of Hope's application to the State of Nevada.
The County Commission is asked to approve the resolution in support of the City of Hope. If approved, staff will provide the resolution to the City of Hope for inclusion in its application materials.
