BACKGROUND:
On July 29, 2025, I appointed James C. Chrisley to the position of Director of Aviation, to succeed Rosemary A. Vassilliadis upon her retirement on September 12, 2025.
Mr. Chrisley brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in managing airport and security operations at commercial, general aviation, and military airports across Southern Nevada, the U.S., and globally. Since September 2015, he has served as the Senior Director of Aviation for the Clark County Department of Aviation, overseeing operations at Harry Reid International Airport, as well as the four general aviation airports in the county system.
Prior to joining Clark County, Mr. Chrisley served over 21 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Civil Engineering and Mission Support Officer. His oversight included executing security operations, airfield and facility maintenance, logistics, fire services, human resources and communications. He supported global military operations and held assignments at Creech and Nellis Air Force Bases in Southern Nevada.
In 2017, Mr. Chrisley was appointed to the Nevada Homeland Security Working Group, now known as the Nevada Resiliency Advisory Committee. As a continued voting member, he helps in the creation of policy for all emergency management mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts throughout the state of Nevada.
Mr. Chrisley was also a key contributor as a member of the Las Vegas Super Bowl LVIII Host Committee's Transportation and Parking Committee in 2023-24. He led the coordination and execution of airport operations in support of the first-ever mega event, collaborating with various stakeholders and agencies.
Additionally, Mr. Chrisley has been instrumental to planning, coordinating and advancing the Southern Nevada Supplemental Airport project and overseeing the master planning efforts for Harry Reid, Henderson and North Las Vegas Airports.
Mr. Chrisley holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Pursuant to Clark County Code Chapter 2.40.100, I am requesting that the Board ratify this appointment.
