BACKGROUND:

The Clark County (County) Department of Real Property Management is requesting to submit a nomination/application to NV Energy for the Community Based Solar Resources (CBSR) program to host a CBSR site to provide solar energy to fellow community members, including low-income residents, renters and small businesses.

The CBSR program helps build solar arrays in communities across the state.  The energy generated at these sites feed into the Expanded Solar Access Program at NV Energy, which helps bring solar energy to customers who may not otherwise be able to access this resource.  Power generated at each CBSR site is used to offset the cost of energy in the surrounding area to support low-income or disadvantaged residents. Qualified residents may submit to participate in the program to receive a rate reduction estimated between 8%-15%.  As part of this program, the County would benefit by receiving constructed covering parking canopies at selected sites and from supporting low-income residents in the surrounding areas.
