BACKGROUND:

The Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) selected to award a no-cost extension for the Las Vegas Justice Court Drug Court program for the federal fiscal year 2024 Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment Capacity in Adult Treatment Drug Courts and Adult Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts.

The SAMHSA grant allows the expansion of the current Drug Court program to provide sober living, substance use treatment with medication-assisted treatment in addition to wrap-around services for program participants. Grant funding of $400,000 will fund the existing Specialty Court Coordinator position, treatment, sober housing, and Drug Court team training through September 29, 2024. The Specialty Court Coordinator position is needed to adequately service participants.

The period of the grant is from September 30, 2023 through September 30, 2024.
