BACKGROUND:
The claim is a result of a motor vehicle accident on August 10, 2023, whereby a County Public Works employee driving a large truck rear-ended Plaintiff’s two-door sedan that was stopped at a traffic signal at the intersection of Blue Diamond Road and Jones Blvd. The County driver was cited for the accident. The total medical treatment is over $315,000 which includes surgery on the Plaintiff’s knee shortly after the accident. The Plaintiff is also claiming future medical expenses of $805,000 and general damages, (i.e., pain and suffering), of an undetermined amount. Plaintiff’s counsel served Clark County with an offer of judgment for $200,000. If settlement is approved, the County will avoid incurring costs and expenses of further litigation. The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
