BACKGROUND:
On October 2, 2019, the BCC established the 1 October Memorial Committee to gather input from the public and develop recommendations for a permanent memorial, including how the memorial should be funded. The 1 October Committee and staff are recommending that the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation be approved to accept donations by check of up to $25,000, cash and credit card donations of up to $1,000, for the 1 October Memorial. The Director shall provide a monthly report to the committee and quarterly updates to the Board of such donations. These funds shall be maintained solely for donations received and any expenses related to the establishment, development, construction, and maintenance of the 1 October Memorial.
