BACKGROUND:

MCI Communications Services, LLC (formerly MCI Communications Services, Inc.) was granted a ten-year Rights-of-Way License Agreement by the Board on March 3, 2009, that has been extended by the Board until September 3, 2024.

Franchisee has applied for a Telecommunications Utility System Franchise to allow the Franchisee to install, operate and maintain underground facilities within the rights-of-ways in unincorporated Clark County for the purpose of providing subscription telecommunication services to customers within unincorporated Clark County. NRS Section 709.070 stipulates that upon receipt of a complete application the Board shall, at its next regular meeting, cause notice of the application to be given.

In accordance with NRS 709.070, public notice shall be published in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks and posted in each of the unincorporated towns affected at least ten days before the public hearing. The Board is requested to accept the application, direct staff to cause public notice as required and set a public hearing for August 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. to consider awarding a franchise.
