BACKGROUND:
A lawsuit was filed against Clark County alleging negligence-based claims when on or around November 27, 2020, Plaintiff tripped and fell in a pothole located in a Clark County intersection near Maryland Pkwy. and Karen St. in Las Vegas, NV. Plaintiff alleged to have sustained $80,965.57 in medical treatment, including surgery on his ankle, resulting from the subject incident. Through negotiations with legal counsel for the Plaintiff, the Plaintiff has agreed to accept $50,000.00 in settlement of the bodily injury claim to avoid any further costs and legal expenses of possible litigation in this case. If the settlement is approved, the County would also avoid costs and expenses of any future litigation.The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
