BACKGROUND:

This contract agreement is for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) which has awarded a subgrant to the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner (CCOCME) for reimbursement of the Medicolegal Death Investigation (MDI) Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR) implementation guide project.

The subgrant is to support MDI offices and their data sharing partners in exploring, testing and innovating data modernization strategies aligned with CDC data modernization initiatives. Project activities will include participating in virtual and in-person collaborative meetings, conducting testing of the MDI FHIR implementation guide and disseminating findings to the broader MDI community.

The subgrant will fund two Data Information Specialist, two part-time Data Entry Specialists and office supplies. Grant employees will assist in agency representation and formation of the MDI FHIR implementation guide by assisting with streamlining software and reporting processes that aid in real time analysis and data collection methods between CCOCME and MDI offices.

Based upon the previous successes of the CCOCME participation in federal and state grant programs, it is recommended that the Board approve the ratification of this subgrant from the Center for Disease Control and accept funds awarded on behalf of the CCOCME. This subgrant is now before the Board of County Commission for ratification given CCOCME is a subgrantee of the Center for Disease Control who applied for the grant.

The following are the pertinent provisions of the contract:
•The term of the contract is from October 15, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
•This contract includes the County’s option to terminate with advanced written notice.

The recommendation of award is in accordance with NRS 277.180, the parties are authorized to enter into interlocal contracts to perform governmental functions and activities.
