BACKGROUND:

During the 2019 Legislative Session, Assembly Bill 309 was adopted by the State Legislature that permitted the Board of County Commissioners to increase the sales and use tax within the County by up to one-quarter of one percent (0.25%).

At their September 3, 2019, meeting, the Board held a public hearing and adopted Ordinance 4721 to impose the increase in the sales and use tax effective January 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021 by one-eighth of one percent (0.125%).  The Board will now consider amending Title 4 to remove the sunset provision.

Staff recommends a public hearing to be scheduled for April 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
