BACKGROUND:

On February 16, 2021, the BCC approved the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan: County Operations, and on April 4, 2023, the Clark County Board of Commissioners (BCC) approved the All-In Community Sustainability and Climate Action Plan. Both documents direct the Clark County Department of Environment and Sustainability (DES) to re-establish the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities and Communities Network, which led to the creation and development of the Southern Nevada Clean Cities Coalition (SNCCC).  The final step in the designation process requires submitting a program plan which describes the steps taken to develop the SNCCC, the region's alternative fuel market, and a five-year strategy to ensure the coalition's continued success. If approved, DES will submit the program plan to the U.S. Department of Energy for designation approval into the Clean Cities and Communities Network.
