BACKGROUND:

At the April 16, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners ("Board") created the eight-member (8) Rural Alliance Advisory Committee (RAAC). This Committee will assist the Board in an advisory capacity with exploring County-driven issues intended to preserve the rural lifestyle of designated areas located in unincorporated Clark County.

The RAAC will hold regular, public meetings throughout the year. Membership will be comprised of seven (7) members representing each commission district, with individuals that reside within a residential neighborhood in Clark County with densities of two (2) dwelling units per acre or less, areas designated with a rural neighborhood preservation overlay, or other spaces that are rural in nature.  One (1) member will represent the Northwest Area Residents Association (NARA). Members will serve without compensation for a two-year term beginning June 18, 2026.

An open recruitment effort began Monday, April 13, 2026 through Thursday, May 14, 2026.  Staff received applications from Lex Anderson, Alejandro Galindo, Tommy LoPresti, William Penney, Vernon Robison, James Scroggins, Brigitte Solvie and Kristen Stout.

The Board is asked to appoint up to eight (8) qualified individuals to the RAAC for a two-year (2-year) term ending June 18, 2028.
