BACKGROUND:
Clark County Social Service (CCSS) requests that the Board of County Commissioners ratify the submission of the grant application to the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) by Clark County Social Service for nutritional assistance for low-income seniors, age 60 and older, in the Alternative Health Care and Homemaker Home Health Services programs; authorize the Assistant Director of Clark County Social Service or their designee to sign the grant documents; and accept any grant funds awarded and authorize the Administrator of Human Services or their designee to sign the resolution to grant funds to WT Vegas, LLC for home delivered meal services.
With the impact of COVID-19 on this vulnerable population, homemakers have been unable to provide meal preparation services, so alternative meal delivery strategies have become prioritized for these clients. By providing weekly delivery of prepared meals for Alternative Health Care (AHC) and Homemaker Home Health Services (HHHA) clients, nutritional needs will be met enabling elderly and disabled individuals to maintain independence, self-sufficiency and dignity resulting in a higher quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic. WT VEGAS, LLC dba Better Lunch Better Fit will provide five (5) well-balanced packaged meals so that clients may consume healthful meals during isolation. Weekly delivery limits contact with clients and meals may be stored in the refrigerator or freezer until consumption. Fresh fruit and additional items may accompany the food deliveries at no additional cost.
CCSS has applied for $91,210.00 for approximately ten (10) weeks of services for up to 200 clients weekly with a project term of April 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021. A separate application may be submitted additional funding to support ongoing services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Better Lunch Better Fit is currently serving clients with food delivery funded by a previous ADSD Nutrition grant. This new grant will provide funding to extend their nutrition services for client who are engaged with Clark County Social Service programs through June 2021.
