BACKGROUND:

The Nevada Clean Energy Fund Board of Directors was created in 2017 (NRS 70B.990). Among its duties, the Board shall annually develop and adopt a work program to serve and support the development of qualified clean energy projects in Nevada; develop rules, policies, and procedures which specify the eligibility of borrowers, and any other terms or conditions of the financial support to be provided by the Nevada Clean Energy Fund; and prepare an annual report for the public on the financing activities of the Nevada Clean Energy Fund. Additional duties of the Board are detailed in NRS 701B.995.

The Board is composed of nine (9) members, five (5) of which are appointed by the Governor to three-year terms, and consists of the following members:

• One representative from the Clark County Board of County Commissioners (County Commission);
• One representative from the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners;
• One representative from one of the other 15 Counties in Nevada;
• One representative from organized labor organizations in Nevada;
• One representative of the State Contractor’s Board;
• The Director of the Office of Energy;
• The Executive Director of the Office of Economic Development or his or her designee;
• The Real Estate Administrator of the Department of Business and Industry or his or her designee; and
• The Commissioner of Financial Institutions or his or her designee.

Members serve without compensation for a three-year (3-year) term on the Board, and members are eligible for reappointment.

The County Commission is asked to review candidates applications and select at least two (2) nominees for the Nevada Clean Energy Fund Board for a three-year (3-year) term that ends June 16, 2029. Staff is directed to notify the Governor of the nominations.
