BACKGROUND: 

Through an agreement dated 8/24/2018, Nevada State College provided unpaid internships to students at Clark County Wetlands Park in exchange for college credit. The agreement has expired. Nevada State College would like to continue this program and expand it to Parks and Recreation.

As before, this unpaid internship will provide temporary supplemental support to County for short-term projects and programs. Each student will be processed as a volunteer by established County policy and procedures and, as such, will be fingerprinted and must pass a background check prior to start of work.

Each student will work onsite under the direct supervision of a county employee. Students will sign an acknowledgment that they are unpaid interns and have no expectation of employment or compensation. Interns shall be expected to comply with County and departmental policies and procedures.

This unpaid internship program term will begin May 2022 and expire May 2027.

The District Attorney's Office has reviewed the Agreement and approved form; staff recommends approval.
