BACKGROUND:

The State of Nevada, Department of Public Safety awarded a United States Department of Transportation pass-through grants to the Las Vegas Justice Court for the DUI Treatment Court Program.  The program is a court-supervised, comprehensive treatment court for misdemeanor DUI offenders operating under National Center for DWI Courts national standards.  The goal of the program is to improve public safety and reduce recidivism among its participants through treatment interventions, random alcohol/drug testing, court supervision, and alcohol/drug use monitoring technology.  This project provides funding to retain one full time Specialty Courts Coordinator and provide supervision of participants with electronic monitoring and random drug testing.  The term of the grant is from October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024.  The federal pass-through grant funding requires 25 percent in matching funds.  Please see attached for more information.
