BACKGROUND:

The Clark County LEPC is eligible for funding through this grant by maintaining compliance with the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) policies.

The Local Emergency Planning Commission held a meeting on March 15, 2022, to approve the submittal of the FY23 SERCOPTE grant. The committee has determined that the grant will be utilized to purchase various equipment for the following agencies.

    (a) City of North Las Vegas to purchase gas mask cannisters for first responders respiratory protection against
hazardous chemicals released in the air.

    (b) Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to purchase a flammable materials freezer for storage of
         ignitable liquids for criminal prosecution.

    (c) Clark County Fire Department to purchase atmospheric monitors to detect hazardous materials in the air.

The State of Nevada Emergency Response Commission made the Local Emergency Planning Commission aware of this funding availability on February 2, 2022. The Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC) met on March 15, 2022, to approve this application. The application was submitted on March 23, 2022.

Staff recommends the Board ratify the submission of the attached grant application.
