  Local 501 Collective Bargaining Agreement

BACKGROUND: 

On July 31, 2023, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (“UMC”) and the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 501, AFL-CIO (“Local 501”) reached tentative agreement for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (“the Agreement”).  Local 501’s members ratified the Agreement on August 7, 2023.  At its August 30, 2023 meeting, the UMC Governing Board approved, and recommend for ratification to the Board of Hospital Trustees, the Agreement.  The Agreement will be effective from the date of ratification until June 30, 2026.

The following is a summary of the Agreement:
                     The entire Agreement was subject to negotiations and 32 Articles were amended.
                     There will be a retroactive cost of living adjustment (“COLA”) for Fiscal Years 2022, 2023, and 2024   that will be paid subsequent to ratification of the Agreement.
                     There will be a COLA for Fiscal Years 2025 and 2026.
                     There will be a $750 retention bonus for Fiscal Year 2024.
                     Based on annual review scores, there may be a potential merit increase in Fiscal Years 2024, 2025, and 2026.
                     There will be a retroactive adjustment for Articles 15 and 30.
                     Attachment I is a summary of substantive changes to each Article.
                     Attachment II contains Articles with new language in their entirety (with new language underlined and deleted language lined out).
                     Attachment III is the Fiscal Impact Summary that outlines the total and annual costs and/or savings of the new Agreement.

It is recommended that the Board of Hospital Trustees, in accordance with Clark County Ordinance 3.74.030(12), ratify the UMC Governing Board’s approval of the Agreement between UMC and Local 501, and authorize the Chair of the Board of Hospital Trustees to sign the Agreement.
