BACKGROUND:
This Competitive Bidding Exception for Pierce Apparatus Parts with Hughes Fire Equipment Inc (LBE).
A Fiscal Directive No. 6, Competitive Bidding Exception, was approved because Clark County Fire Department operates a large fleet of Pierce fire apparatus that serve as frontline emergency response vehicles throughout the County. Hughes Fire Equipment Inc is the sole authorized source for genuine Pierce parts.
The following are the pertinent provisions of this approval:
• The term of the approval is from date of award through June 30, 2027, and includes the option to renew for 5, one-year periods.
• Clark County is not under exclusive contract with Hughes Fire Equipment Inc. and therefore, can cease purchasing product / services at any time.
The recommendation of award is in accordance with NRS 332.115.1(a), the competitive bidding process is not required as the item to be purchased is contracted from a sole source. (c), the competitive bidding process is not required as the additions to and repairs and maintenance of equipment may be more efficiently added to, repaired or maintained by a certain person. (d), the competitive bidding process is not required as the equipment which, by reason of the training of the personnel or of an inventory of replacement parts maintained by the local government is compatible with existing equipment.
Hughes Fire Equipment Inc currently holds a Clark County Business License.
