BACKGROUND:
On September 16, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners ("Board") authorized the Clark County Coroner/Medical Examiner ("CCOCME") to enter into Professional Services Agreements with mortuaries willing and able to perform transport related services for bodies and/or human remains within the jurisdiction of Clark County for the calendar year of 2017. On September 1, 2020, the Board approved the fourth and final one-year extension of those Professional Services Agreements, which will expire at the end of this year.
CCOCME desires to enter new Professional Services Agreements with mortuaries willing and able to perform transport related services for bodies and/or human remains within the jurisdiction of Clark County for the calendar year of 2022. Pursuant to the terms and conditions of these Professional Services Agreements, these mortuaries will provide services twenty-four hours per day on a weekly basis according to a rotational schedule maintained by CCOCME. The Agreements require the mortuaries to comply with certain operating, facility, and records maintenance requirements. Davis Funeral Home and Moapa Valley Mortuary are the only mortuaries willing to commit to providing these services.
It is recommended that the Board approve the format of the agreement and authorize the Coroner to enter the Professional Services with Davis Funeral Home and Moapa Valley Mortuary, respectively, for a one-year term.
