BACKGROUND:

Clark County Parks and Recreation operates five (5) year-round indoor aquatic facilities: Desert Breeze, Aquatic Springs, Hollywood, Cora Coleman, and West Flamingo. These facilities provide programs and activities such as swim lessons, lap swim, water exercise classes, Clark County School District athletics, and special interest group rentals for all ages. In addition to the many part-time employees who oversee daily programming, the County currently has nine full-time Parks and Recreation aquatic positions that supervise and coordinate year-round operations at these indoor facilities.

Rather than staffing these facilities with additional part-time positions, it has been determined that there is a need for four (4) new full-time Aquatics Assistant (schedule C21) positions that will provide lifeguard services and other duties required for daily operations to properly operate the County’s year-round facilities. The cost of these positions will be offset by the elimination of various budgeted part-time positions.
