BACKGROUND:

The Clark County LEPC is eligible for funding through this grant by maintaining compliance with State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) policies.  The grant is intended to provide additional funding to increase Southern Nevada's capabilities to meet the Nevada Commission on Homeland and Security priorities.

Additional funding became available to provide increased capabilities to build Southern Nevada's strategic capacities and core capabilities of public health healthcare, emergency medical services, operational communication, and operational coordination.  In order to meet the submission deadline, the grant application was submitted to the SERC Office on January 4, 2021.  If awarded, the funding will be used by Clark County Fire Department and City of Henderson Fire Department for training on mass casualty events, Las Vegas Paiute Police Department for improvements on equipment, and Clark County School District Police Department to purchase additional radios for improved operational communication.

Staff recommends the Board ratify the submission of the attached grant application.
