BACKGROUND:

Per NRS 543.355 (1), the Clark County Regional Flood Control District (District) is required to establish a citizens advisory committee (CAC) to be comprised of representatives of the general public. Further, the CAC must consist of one (1) member appointed by the county and each city all or part of whose territory is included in the District, and one (1) member appointed by each member of the Board of Directors for the District.

The District’s CAC acts as an advisory committee to the Board of Directors on District activities, represents the public interest, and advises the Board of Directors on matters related to the master plan.

Ronald Newell’s term as the Clark County Board of County Commissioners (County Commission) representative on the District’s CAC expired on January 3, 2021. Ronald Newell has expressed interesting in continuing to serve. The District has indicated that they would be happy to have his continued support and participation.

The County Commission is asked to reappoint Ronald Newell to the District’s Citizens Advisory Committee for a two-year term ending January 2, 2023.
