BACKGROUND:
This case is an employment case arising under the Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The case proceeded through discovery and on December 12, 2019, the federal district court granted partial summary judgment and in the same order ordered the parties to participate in a settlement conference. Through negotiations with legal counsel for the claimant, and as a result of the settlement conference, the claimant has agreed to accept $80,000.00 in settlement of the claim to avoid any further costs and legal expenses of possible litigation in this case. The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
