BACKGROUND:
This case arises from an automobile collision that occurred on or around January 3, 2019 involving a Clark County vehicle. The driver and two passengers of the third-party vehicle filed suit against Clark County and the Clark County employee driver following the accident. At a private mediation held in this matter on December 10, 2020, the Clark County Defendants agreed to recommend settlement for Plaintiff Sirleidys Sotolongo-Medina and Plaintiff Jorge Zayas-Herrera in the amounts of $30,000.00 and $55,000.00, respectively. These settlement amounts are reasonable based on likely apportionment of liability at trial, medical special damages alleged by the Plaintiffs, and other economic considerations.The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
