BACKGROUND:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was accepting applications for the FY2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG).  This grant is made available to local fire departments to help improve the health and safety of both the public and firefighting personnel against fire and fire-related hazards.

The Clark County Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to request funding to purchase two (2) replacement brush trucks and two replacement (2) water tenders for the Rural Division.

Due to the short timeframe between the grant announcement and submission due date, the AFG application was submitted to FEMA before the submission deadline of February 12, 2021, which was prior to Board approval.

Acceptance of this funding will assist the department in acquiring four replacement vehicles for the Rural Division.

Staff recommends that the Board ratify the submission of the attached grant application.
