BACKGROUND:
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has approved the Nexar CityStream project on its annual Capital Improvement Program from Sales Tax Funds.
In July 2020, RTC completed the Nexar Automated Cone-Detection Pilot project. During this pilot, Nexar successfully demonstrated its capabilities to leverage driver dash-cam data, detect road construction work zones, and actively map lane closures in near real time. The Nexar CityStream platform will be used by RTC Transit to monitor bus stops that may be impacted by work zones as well as be available for all member agencies to use. The RTC is working with Nexar to secure potential funds to be used by Israeli start-up companies. RTC met with the Public Works Directors from the County and Cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson, and all partnering agencies to demonstrate the Nexar CityStream platform.
The attached Interlocal Contract No. 1248 will provide RTC with funds for design of the subject project (Clark County Public Works Project No. PW.R144ALQ). The interlocal contract terminates on December 31, 2025.
This project is identified on RTC's Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 2020-2021. RTC approved the interlocal contract at its meeting on January 14, 2021.
Each of the other Member Agencies is scheduled to approve the interlocal contract at their respective Board/Council meetings.
The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the interlocal contract as to form.
