BACKGROUND:
On October 26, 2020, the County driver did not stop in time and rear-ended Lindsey Bermudez's vehicle. The total property damage was $1,148.81; and the total amount of Ms. Bermudez’s medical treatment is at $13,663.38.Through negotiations with legal counsel for the claimant, the claimant has agreed to accept $26,000.00 in settlement of the bodily injury claim to avoid any further costs and legal expenses of possible litigation in this case. If the settlement is approved, the County would also avoid costs and expenses of any future litigation.The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office.
