BACKGROUND:

In mid-2019, county commissioners directed staff to initiate a study to determine the feasibility of establishing a redevelopment agency for the unincorporated areas of the Clark County.  Applied Analysis conducted the study identifying Clark County's existing redevelopment agency with its three redevelopment areas and six evaluation areas for consideration.  Applied Analysis presented the information from the study to the board on March 2, 2021.  At that time the board requested a future agenda item for additional discussion on redevelopment agencies and potential programs.

On May 4th staff made a presentation to the board outlining potential economic development and redevelopment programs that Clark County could establish including different funding options associated with those programs.  A statutorily created redevelopment agency was one of the funding options available.  At that time the board directed staff to prepare a resolution for Clark County's existing redevelopment agency to function.

Clark County's redevelopment agency was established in December 2002 and the associated redevelopment plan was approved in December 2003.  Clark County's redevelopment agency suspended functions in May 2009 pursuant to NRS 279.436.
