BACKGROUND:

To provide a comprehensive review of Outside Agency Grant (OAG) requests, Community Resources Management initiates a grant application and internal review process each year. This year nonprofit agencies and local governments within the County completed an application for funding detailing information related to proposed projects, budgets, and information concerning their nonprofit status and agency management. Clark County received 149 applications requesting over $8.1 million in funding.

Clark County received 27 Department Initiative applications requesting approximately $2.6 million in funding.  Department heads representing critical County services reviewed all applications. Each reviewer recommended projects that would most closely support their department's needs. These projects either supplement services provided directly by the County, or are funded in lieu of the need for the County to establish such programs. Attached is the final list of recommended projects for $1,530,000 for Board consideration.

Following the adoption of this list, the agencies recommended for OAG funding will be notified and required to submit supporting documentation before proceeding forward. County staff will then prepare the required grant resolution agreements per Nevada Revised Statutes 244.1505. The grant resolution agreements will provide terms of the award and will allow for a 20% advance of funds. These grant resolutions will then be sent to the County Manager for approval in advance of the implementation of the approved projects.

Approval of these grants will provide matching County monies to provide supplemental services to clients of our County departments, as well as assist with the operation of social, recreational, educational, and cultural programs benefiting seniors, youth, veterans, the low income, as well as our rural and urban residents.
