BACKGROUND:

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has approved the Karen Avenue between Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Wash project on the adopted RTC Capital Improvement Plan.

The attached Interlocal Contract No. 1283 will provide funds for construction of the subject project.  The design is 90% complete and all right-of-way for construction obtained.  This project will provide roadway improvements and a storm drain system on Karen Avenue from Maryland Parkway to Mojave Road, then along Mojave Road from Karen Avenue to Vegas Valley Drive and east on Vegas Valley Drive to connect to the Flamingo Wash.  Improvements will include, but not limited to, up to two travel lanes in each direction along Karen Avenue from Maryland Parkway to Mojave Road, pavement replacement with hot mix asphaltic concrete, UTACS, concrete curb, gutter, median islands, sidewalk ramps, sidewalk, retaining walls, storm drain facilities, utility adjustments and relocations, replace existing luminaires with LED luminaires, new streetlights, new school flashers, signage, pavement markings, and other appurtenances necessary to make a good, complete, and serviceable project.  The time of performance is effective to December 31, 2026, unless time extensions are granted.

This project is budgeted in RTC's Highway Improvement Acquisition Fund in Fiscal Year 2021.  RTC approved the interlocal contract at its meeting on June 10, 2021.

The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the interlocal contract as to form.
