BACKGROUND:

The Eighth Judicial District Court has prioritized its efforts on identifying resources to expand substance abuse treatment services for those in the criminal justice system.  This grant will continue the ongoing efforts to divert new or active participants from the jail and the community into inpatient treatment, coordinated care and transitional housing with case management.  This partnership has been extraordinarily successful through its impact on the average time in custody awaiting residential treatment placements, diverting candidates altogether into treatment rather than the criminal justice system, and lifestyle improvements for those that successfully complete treatment.

The Eighth Judicial District Court is currently using multiple providers for these services with the use of master services agreements; Freedom House Inc., CrossRoads of Southern Nevada, and Sierra Sage at this time.  All providers are certified by Nevada's Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Agency (SAPTA).
