BACKGROUND:
On November 17, 2015, the Board approved the award of District CFN No. 160025, Computer Equipment. This award utilized the State of Minnesota/National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) ValuePoint Contract No. MNWNC-108, Computer Equipment (Desktop, Laptops, Tablets, Servers, and Storage including related Peripherals and Services) for the purchase of Dell servers and Dell Compellent SAN technology (storage devices). This Dell equipment is necessary for data backups and to run several server-based applications, including Maximo and Oracle applications, SQL Server, SCADA, and Microsoft Exchange.
On May 19, 2020, the Board approved the first contract extension through July 31, 2021. The term of this contract has been extended through July 31, 2022 to allow for the negotiation and award of a new contract. To maintain the District's information technology operations, staff is requesting authorization to continue utilizing the State of Minnesota/NASPO ValuePoint contract through the expiration of the extended term, and includes any renewal period that may be negotiated by the State of Minnesota/NASPO ValuePoint.
Staff recommends that the Board authorize the General Manager to continue utilizing the extended State of Minnesota/NASPO ValuePoint Contract No. MNWNC-108 with Dell Marketing, L.P., for the purchase of computer equipment through the expiration of the extended term and includes any renewal period that may be negotiated by the State of Minnesota/NASPO ValuePoint. Staff will submit an annual report to the Board detailing incurred expenditures.
NRS 332.195.1(b) allows public agencies to use the contracts of the State of Nevada or another state with the authorization of the contracting vendor. Dell Marketing, L.P., has authorized the District to use this contract in order to take advantage of the competitive pricing offered to public agencies. Dell Marketing, L.P., (LBE) currently holds a Clark County business license.
