CBE: NRS 332.112.2 - Emergency Contracts Amendment 1 - extend for one (1) year from 8/1/2021 to 7/31/2022

BACKGROUND:

On September 1, 2020, the Board of Hospital Trustees ratified the emergency Lease Agreement (“Agreement”) for approximately 20,000 square feet of storage space from HIP Valley View, LLC.  The total base rent due under the lease ($13,000/month) along with UMC’s share of operating expenses (taxes, insurance, common area maintenance) will not exceed $192,000 for the Term, August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021.  This Agreement required immediate execution to timely support UMC’s COVID-19 testing efforts in the Las Vegas community and provide short-term overflow space for the hospital’s needs. This emergency contract was done in accordance with NRS 332.112.2 as the lease supports UMC’s COVID-19 response.

This First Amendment requests to extend the Agreement for a one (1) year through July 31, 2022 to support hospital’s PPE storage needs.

UMC’s Chief Operating Officer has reviewed and recommends approval of this Amendment.  This Amendment has been approved as to form by UMC’s Office of General Counsel.

HIP Valley View, LLC is currently in the process of applying for a Clark County business license.

This Amendment was reviewed by the Governing Board at their June 30, 2021 meeting and recommended for approval by the Board of Hospital Trustees.
