BACKGROUND:

On May 25, 2021 the Clark County Department of Family Services (DFS) received notification from  the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Public & Behavioral Health (DCFS) announcing the release of  Request for Application to fund prevention and treatment of substance abuse services for DFS clients involved with child protective services.

Approval of this item will allow DFS to contract services from eligible Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Agencies to assess the mental health needs of DFS clients with drug/alcohol related disorders and authorize the continuation of two (2) part time Management Assistant ($17.30-$30) position and Facilitation/Mediation Specialist ($12 - $25) position to support the parent's drug treatment through collaboration  between the Court, DFS and the Clients.

Due to the timeframe between the grant announcement and submission due date, the grant application was submitted to DCFS on 06/01/2021 prior to Board approval.
