BACKGROUND:

On May 14, 2021, the Clark County Department of Family Services (DFS) applied for grant funding through the State of Nevada's Children's Justice Act program to aid in the distribution of Child Welfare Court Process Guide for Families Handbook and Quick Guide for the purpose of increasing knowledge of parents in understanding the laws that govern legal child welfare cases.

If awarded, funds will be used to print informational materials in both English and Spanish including the following: 20 Family Court Roadmaps to be placed in DFS' offices and court partner agencies (e.g., CASA, Legal Aid, Public Defender offices), 8,000 Family Court Guide Roadmaps to distribute to families, 4,000 Family Court Guides to distribute to families; and 32,000 CPS Guide Brochures to distribute to families.

Due to the short time frame between the grant announcement and submission due date of May 14, 2021, the grant application was submitted to the State prior to Board approval.
